You Can Get It If You Really Want

I was watching Hitch the other day and this song from Jimmy Cliff evoked my old memories. I was sorta forced to attend a 4-days Personal Development Leadership (PDL) course back in Form 3. That was my first motivation course in my life and that 4 days felt like years. I even thought of running away but I have no guts at that time. Back then, I too think rationally. I understand the consequences it takes for me to do that. Besides, my younger bro was there too. I stayed anyway, DUH..

Maybe that course make a huge difference if my life. I don't know. At least not until I found out recently. Was that the reason I was so confident in everything? Did the 4 days turned me into a better person? How all these related to my current behaviour, as in strong & tough inside? Whatever it might be, I'm sure it benefits me. This is just one of the songs they played. The lyrics goes out here..

You can get it if you really want,
You can get it if you really want,
You can get it if you really want,
but you must try, try and try,
try and try, you´ll succeed at last.

Persecution you must bear,
win or lose, you got to get your share,
You´ve got your mind set on a dream,
you can get it, though hard it may seem, now.

[Refrain]

I know it - listen
Rome was not built in a day,
Opposition will come your way,
but the harder the battle you see,
it´s the sweeter the victory, now.

[Refrain]

Simple & more meaningful than thousand words.

On the last day of the course, each of us have to go up the stage and SPEAK. Be it about the course or your own feeling, you must thank your parents and give them a hug. Well at that time, I do felt it was embarrass to hug my parents in the public, but given a choice now, I would love to because I think there's nothing to be embarrass. It's a way to show that you care.

2 Old Comments:

i once attended this motivation course camp thingy (also back in form 3), where we were drilled with this malay song (err...can't remember the title), which went something like that:

"jikalau anda fikirkan boleh,
anda boleh berjaya... err...err..something something..."

(looks like they didn't drill the song deep enough into my brains) :P
