I'm Tired

I'm off this week.. So, I'm free! Can't wait to go back to class next week. I tried to book in studio time even I'm having off days, be it to brush up my skill or fill in my time. It was fully booked for every single studio for the whole damn week. The only time available was 10pm - 2am or 2am till 9am. What the..? Some of my classmates tried staying up the whole night because you can access anywhere in the school, just that you can't leave until the next morning when the supervisor gets back. We were told to bring our sleeping bag if we want to sleep in the recording space. Someday I might do the same..

While most of the universities are having semester exam, I felt glad that I won't have to go through that again. Still recalling my days in Deakin, I stressed myself so much because I didn't want to fail any subjects. Thank God I did not. My current course is more practical-based instead of having written exam every semester end. Well, I don't even have semester break..

OK.. back to yesterday. I was playing game for the whole day - The Sims 2. I kept playing for hours, forgot about dinner and I took my shower at 2am.. *Bad for health* Before I went to bed, I told myself that I will not play it today! *Sorry for those who buzzed me in MSN and I didn't reply!* I woke up at mid day, took my brunch and started to clean up the place. I vacuumed the carpet both upstairs and downstairs, I mopped the floor, I cleaned the kitchen etc etc. I wanted to cleaned the toilet too, but I was dead tired after that. BUT it felt so GREAT & CLEAN.. Even the air is much fresher..

I supposed I'm that kind which "Can't sit still". Though I was tired but I still went to cook. I made water chestnut jelly! It only took me 30 minutes for the whole thing! I'm now typing this out, half dead while waiting for dinner. Hehe..

PC Market

My PC has been running slow nowadays as it has been flooded with lots of Audio files and editing softwares. There wasn't any major problem or whatsoever, but I just don't like it being slow sometimes. So I went to get some ram today. Due to GST reason, I really don't think its a good idea to get any technology related product in Australia. I'm so used to Low Yat's price..

Anyway, I went to the mini PC fair in Camberwell, there was this man that pissed me off big time. I was walking from stall to stall asking for price for the ram that I want, usually they'll tell you on the spot. But this man, either from Taiwan or China, he spoke to me in Mandarin.

Stupid Man :" How much do you want?"
Me :" I'm not sure, I'm asking around."
Stupid Man :" Tell me how much you willing to pay."
Me :" Aren't you supposed to tell me that?"
Stupid Man :" Give me a price."
Me :" 50 dollars?" (The cheapest was 70)
Stupid Man :" What do I earn if I sell it to you for 50 dollars??"
Me :" You're the one to ask me how much I willing to pay."

Then he was trying to justify himself by saying if I buy 1000 units he might give me that price. I seriously think he was out of his mind. I smiled to him and I walked off. He's gonna lose his customers with his attitude. I got myself a better price from another stall, with better service.

I Got My Cert!!

Without having breakfast this morning, I went straight to hand in my assignments. I was glad to see Miss S this time. Guess what? We TALKED for the first time!! How amazing.. She wasn't as arrogant as I thought.. It took me an hour to double checked my work before I put it in CD. Again it was the Mac-PC compatibility thingy. Some of my audio files were missing and I got no idea where they were. I managed to locate them in my memory stick in a folder which I named it "Miscellaneous". My sixth sense was telling me "You'll need this" yesterday when I was transfering them to the memory stick. I could have just ignore it but somehow I listened and it saved me from lots of trouble! So, BELIEVE IN YOUR SIXTH SENSE..

As a loyal PC user, I was having a hard time using one of the eMac. I was like:"Wow, they don't need a CPU to run their OS." How would I know the big white monitor has a built-in brain? The worst thing was when I couldn't find a CD drive. After a long search while I was trying to dig out a flip in the front panel, I found it! You actually need to hit the eject button on the keyboard and not to dig it out with your finger, genius! Luckily no one saw me, hahaha.. I learnt my lesson.

Finally, I went JMC and collected my Certificate and transcript. All my hard work since July last year. Eventhough it was just a cert, but damn, I'm so proud of myself!!

Libra Odd Spots

I was a little emotional when I wrote my previous post.. But I meant what I wrote.. I'm back to the normal me again now, wanted to share some odd spots which I found on Libra pads. Yup sanitary pads. It was the adhesive backing strip.. I find it very interesting!

Odd Spot #16
Because of the rotation of the earth, an object can be thrown further if it is thrown west.

Odd Spot #23
In the course of an average lifetime you will, while sleeping, eat 70 assorted insects and 10 spiders.

Odd Spot #34
Mosquito repellants don't repel. The spray blocks the mosquito’s sensors so they don't know you're there.

Odd Spot #159
People say "bless you" when you sneeze, because when you sneeze your heart stops for a millisecond.

Odd Spot #74
A goldfish has a memory span of 3 seconds.

Odd Spot #101
If you sneeze too hard, you can fracture a rib. If you try to supress a sneeze, you can rupture a blood vessel in your head or neck and DIE!

Odd Spot #27
Wearing headphones for just an hour will increase the bacteria in your ear by 700 times.

Odd Spot #44
It is physically impossible for a pig to look up to the sky.

Etc etc etc..

Another Sunday..

Again, I was in the kitchen today. Baking cookies this time. Well, I still haven't figure out the reason about me spending time baking all sorts of funny dishes.. Just let me be till I'm sick of it! The cookies turned out "ALRIGHT" as it was abit hard. Guess it was overheated while I was on the phone with Renay. Oh ya, Happy birthday gal! Hope you have a nice day! I'm so glad to chat with you after few months apart.. Missing you now..

It smells so good but it taste like.. not-very-cookie. I'll do it better next time. Here's another pic I took during dinner yesterday.. 100% no MSG. He made it..

Enough food posting for today. It's time to get my arse down for my assignmentSSSS..

Star Wars III, big deal?

Of course there is no big deal with Star Wars, but then I still paid and watched it. Well it definitely worth the amount I would say. Honestly I'm not a Star Wars fan, but the fact that it was a George Lucas Production, so.. Let me just make a few comments about this movie..

+ve elements:
1. I enjoyed the space battle and Jedi fights so much.
2. Isn't it brilliant to send ONE Jedi to kill somone instead of.. ?
3. The way Obi Wan fought General Grevious was awesome.
4. The city landscape was amazing.
5. I love this : "You were supposed to be the chosen one!"
6. Oh ya, Yoda was cool too..

-ve elements:
1. Anakin had turned to the dark side. He was my favourite.. Oh well..
2. The love story between Padme and Anakin could be better.
3. Anakin shouldn't be left to deal with the dark force himself.
4. I wish I could fast forward some dialogue scenes.

The conclusion I've got here is, go watch. It's worth it.

House of Fury

Went back to class after a 2 weeks break. But I'll be having my 2 weeks break again after this week! Hehe... Well, its not a self-declared holiday, that was because the builders were so slow with the studio renovation. Not my fault. Anyway, class was great. Today Chris went through the Control 24 desk with us. It wasn't as hard as I thought, but who knows.. I haven't touch a single button yet. I was nodding my head for the whole 3 hours. The not-so-happy part was her. She was so arrogant I would say. Don't want to bring that up in details here, I guess we're different species that's all.. but hey, what so great about you? I didn't know I was invisible till you showed me. Thanks!

Anyway, I had flu because of the freezing studio again. Took some rest when I got back.. and watched this movie - House of Fury, during dinner. It has been awhile since I last commented on movies. This one was good, funny but makes sense! Many of those recent HK production movies sucks to the max. At least 1 out of 10 movies is good, better than none. Oh well, I just kept laughing.. the WTF part was the funniest..

Baking

I baked my first banana cake today. Haha.. I considered it as successful because it looked, smell and tasted like one. It took me approx. less than an hour. The ingredients were as below (if you're interested):

Raising flour - 150gr
Egg - 2
Brown sugar - 70gr or less
Butter - 100gr
Banana - 2
Salt - 1/2 teaspoon

I baked this cake without a mixer, so I was having a rather hard time barehanded! Well, you wouldn't want to know.. The result matters more than the method. I am a hygience freak anyway.

I still couldn't figure out the very reason that brought me into cooking & baking lately. I had made 4 dishes in these few days, all desserts and snacks. If I wasn't doing it myself, I wouldn't know the amount of sugar consumed in it. Guess what, I almost finished the full pack of 500gram CSR brown sugar in these 2 days.. Some used for experiment, some eaten, some in the bin.

Cooking

I spent half my day in the kitchen. Yup cooking, surprise huh! Well I tried to cook "Mo Mo Cha Cha" and "Shark-fin soup" (碗仔翅). Mum was telling me the recipe and method the other day, so I thought to give it a shot since I managed to get pandan leaves and yam here.

It turned out ALRIGHT but it was nowhere compared to mum's. I guess the reason was the instant coconut milk and the pandan leaves. The instant coconut milk taste so.. different and the pandan leaves were frozen. Of course Dan doesn't know how to appreciate my lousy Malaysian Mo Mo Cha Cha, I'm sure he'll love the authentic one. So I made him so-called Shark-fin soup. *I replaced sharkfin with vermicelli* Because that was the hongkie way. I had it a few times when I was in HK and it taste much better than the real sharkfin. It was back in the 80's when the majority couldn't afford real sharkfin and people came out with this. With the chicken soup base, then add in mushroom & chicken slice, egg, vermicelli, water chestnut powder, vinegar and dark soy sauce, you're done!

Maybe tomorrow I'll bake Banana cake.. There's always first time for everything. Didn't know cooking can be so fun. My 2 weeks holiday's gonna end soon..

Jonathan Brandis

One of my favourite actor in my all time favourite TV show - Seaquest had passed away. I really didn't know he died in November, 2003. I tried to deny the fact that he was gone but whenever I typed Jonathan Brandis in google, all the news about his death confirmed everything.

How could I not heard of this news? I must be blind or something at that time. Still remember I used to keep all his magazines and pictures with me back in those days. Felt so sorry for him. He hung himself because he was under stress due to his downfall of his career.

This is him..

These pics were taken long time ago when he was still filming Seaquest with Steven Speilberg. See you in heaven Jonathan aka Lucas Wolenczak.

Happy Mother's Day!

Thought of mum when I saw this pic. Still remember mum telling me when the cloud turned pinky, it will rain the next day. Heard that it was from grandma. There wasn't weather forecast in the good old days, so the older generations predict the weather by looking at the cloud so that they know if they can go fishing. My dad's side were all from China. They travalled all the way to Malaysia back in the 50's to get out of China for better living. Or else I guess I'll still be there now..

Today's Mother's Day. Just wanna thanks my mum for everything she'd done for us and thanks for being such a great mum to me! So do you, dad! Though Father's day is a month away, but to me, you guys are the greatest parents!

Hills again

I felt extremely tired eventhough I woke up at 1pm today. I spent my whole yesterday in Endeavour Hills, yup in Mandy's place. Had a house warming party yesterday night, so I was there in the morning to help her out. I took the same 9.50am train 2 weeks ago to get to Boxhill. She picked us up and we went to shop for things needed for the party.

Spent almost the whole afternoon marinating meat, preparing salads, cooking dishes and the most wonderful thing that happened was to clean up the BBQ place. Well I've never done the cleaning part before.. So, I was only helping. It was gross man. Because she didn't know the previous tenant who stayed there didn't clean it up before she bought the house. It took us some time to scrub off the grease.

Anyways, had a great party. It was so different from Asian party though. Aussie only care about drinking, and not eating. They drink even they're empty stomach. So the whole night was all about drinking and drinking and drinking. Most of the people who came were her colleagues. Only a few were friends from high school and uni, like me. Ocassionally I'll be bored, and when I got someone to talk to me then I won't. Me and a few people end up playing cards. I've learnt 2 new card games. The "Thirteen" was actually the so-called "Big-2" or "Cho Tai Dee" for chinese. But for vietnamese, they were called thirteen. The funny rules were:

1. Heart is the largest followed by diamond, spade and club.
2. In a 5-cards situation, you can't include 2.
3. No same suit like diamond 2,4,6,8,9 is allowed.
4. You can put as many continuous cards as you can such as : 7, 8, 9 or 3,4,5,6,7,8,9.

She really confused me! But I won anyways, haha. And then this guy came and taugh us a new game - The idiot's game. It was somewhat similiar to Uno. The rules were:

1. No suits is the largest. It goes by numbers.
2. If it reached 10, all the cards will be kept aside.
3. If it reached 7, you gotta put numbers below 7.
4. You can put 2 anytime you want.
5. 3 is to skip.
6. 5 is invisible.

And the last one would be the idiot - which was me! Time flies and everyone went home. Endeavour Hills temperature was so much lower than anywhere else. I was still shivering with 3 layers of clothes. Good news was we got a free ride from Mandy's colleague, bad news was we missed the last train from Boxhill! Took a cab all the way back to the city... damn..

Childhood TV Shows

I was up late yesterday night searching for old TV shows/series. Thanks to the new P2P program that I found. It all started with Harry Potter. Well, I'm a huge Potter fan you see. I was intending to search for the pdf version to be kept in my pc but I accidently found Book 6 - Harry Potter and the half-blood prince which supposed to be released in this coming 16th of July. So, I download it. For sure I'm going to get a "real" book in July because I wouldn't want to disappoint J.K Rowling for her hard work by just reading it on my pc. *As if she knows* But still, I support the originals for things that I like. =)
Back to the program I mentioned.. I found so many of my childhood TV shows such as Mcgyver, Knight Riders, Airwolf, Seaquest DSV (Not really childhood but I love it to the max), cartoons like Transformers, Thundercat, Ducktales, Smurfs(http://www.smurf.com), Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle. Yea they were all very "boyish". Maybe because I spent time with my brother more, haha.. I'm not a barbie-doll girl. I used to have one but don't really like it. What else.. there were these few that I love to watch such as My little pony, Carebears, Jem (http://www.80scartoons.co.uk/jem.html). I'll never forget these few. I could still remember being awake at 10am every Sunday to watch Jem.

There were too many old TV shows available for download. Can't wait to have them all to bring back my childhood memories. Just a few episodes will do.

Song of the day: Lifehouse - You and me

I'm sorry

As usual, I was surfing in the beauty tips sorta forum and came across this topic - Animal Testing. I bet 3/4 of the world didn't realise or have the what-can-i-do attitude towards this. I love animals and it hurts when you see them suffer.

I just want to say sorry to those animals who got killed because of our selfishness. Why can't they test it on human?? Just because animal can't speak doesn't mean they're not in pain. Most of the companies of the products I'm using did test on animals.. such as Pantene, Dove, Biotherm, Neutrogena etc etc.. I felt so disgusted now. What I can do now is just to be aware of the product I'll be using in the future.

http://www.stopanimaltests.com/
http://www.iamscruelty.com/
http://pw2.netcom.com/~axleplus/stuff/hotstuff/company.html

See it for yourself, you can still use it of course and I won't say you're heartless.. I'm being me.. Hope those animals who died because of animal testing rest in peace.

Don't feel like Sunday

Went to Allans for 3 consecutive days. First day was to get a midi keyboard (Yes I got one, hehe..) and second day was to get a cable (Because I was too excited during the first day and I forgot) . And today was to returned the cable because they gave me a wrong one, and yet it was closed! How can I not remember today's a Sunday? My jaw almost reached the floor as I saw the "CLOSED" sign. Now I gotta go again tomorrow after class.

No it wasn't near at all.. 15 minutes walk from my place. Well, 10 minutes precisely. And with the weather getting colder each day, I felt so reluctant to go there again. If I wasn't very eager to record midi, I would have just F*** it.. And I've been staying up late yesterday night, spending time in forums to find out what's the best cable to use, how to route signal bla bla bla so I can start doing some shit today.

Quote of the day: Don't expect help when you demand it as if it is your right.
